The Amazing Capabilities of the Healy:

Digital Acupuncture & the 20 Meridians
Part 1

In our most recent post, The Amazing Capabilities of the Healy: The Resonance Scan, we broke down the step-by-step instructions of how to perform your first Resonance Analysis and discussed how valuable the Resonance Analysis can be as a diagnostic tool – to show you which of the 120+ Healy programs is more relevant for you in that moment. But as we also hinted at towards the end of the post, there is a lot more you can do with this Resonance Analysis that might not be apparent at first.

If you haven’t read our previous post, you’ll want to check it out before you continue reading this next mini-series. The Resonance Analysis function of the Healy Resonance will play a large part in implementing what you’ll learn in the following posts.

Digital Acupunture & the 20 Meridians

As we briefly mentioned in The Amazing Capabilities of the Healy, acupuncture is a practice that dates back thousands of years to Traditional Chinese Medicine. In the years after acupuncture’s origins, which can be traced to at least as early as 100 BC, the original function of an acupuncturist within society was to keep the people in their town healthy, rather than only treating those that had symptoms or ailments.

This proactive approach is one we also recommend taking with the Healy. And as we get further into our discussion about Digital Acupuncture & the 20 Meridians, we’ll also share more about energetic predisposition and prevention.

But back to the basics for now!

For those unfamiliar with acupuncture, acupuncture’s main focus is the balancing of energy flow in the body. Our energy, sometimes referred to as Chi, Qi, Prana, Life Force, etc., flows through the meridians. When energy gets ‘stuck’ due to blockages – whether emotional, physical or spiritual – this energy can get stuck. And when the meridians are ‘blocked’ or the flow of energy is ‘stuck,’ it begins to stagnate and can manifest into physical ailments and disease if untreated.

In acupuncture, an acupuncturist uses needles to correct these blockages in the meridians and restore the proper flow of energy to the body.

Digital Acupuncture

As you’ve probably figured out (unless you don’t have a Healy yet!), the Healy does not use needles. So if that was something you were worrying about, you can relax!

Instead of needles, the Healy, building upon what we learned in How to Explain the Healy to a Friend – Part 2 about resonating frequencies, uses frequency-modulated microcurrents to target and balance specific meridians to balance blockages, restore the proper flow of energy through the meridians and bring bioenergetic harmony to the body.

While the application of digital acupuncture is undeniably different than that of traditional acupuncture, the operating philosophy behind them and the potential to act proactively to stay healthy is essentially the same.

The 20 Meridians

The First 12 Meridians

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, there are believed to be 12 Jing lou, or primary meridians, that connect the organs and transport energy throughout the body. If you’ve ever been to an acupuncturist’s office, you may have seen a model of the meridians like the one pictured below.

The traditional Chinese meridians function like an energy network that can be mapped out across the body and are sometimes compared to the circulatory system. In addition to these 12 primary meridians, there are other, less critical components to this energy network within the body, also known as the jingmai, that play a role in the flow of energy through the body, but meridians are the most significant aspect of the system, so these other components won’t be a focus in this series. But if you’re curious, you can start here.

The Other 8 Meridians

The other 8 meridians, better known as the Voll Meridians or the German Meridians, were discovered by Dr. Reinhold Voll, a German Medical Doctor and engineer, in Germany in the late 1940s. Dr. Voll was interested in the effects of electricity on the body, and more specifically, areas of electrical conductivity within the body.

According to Biontology, “Dr. Voll found that if he tested the electrical conductance on any general area of the human body, there was a fairly low level of electrical conductivity.  This is a curious conclusion since we know that the body has a large volume of electrically conductive fluids within it.  But, the skin, by its nature, is very resistant to electrical current.  However, Dr. Voll also found that at certain specific locations on the anatomy, the electrical flow he measured was much more conductive than other locations.  These points found by Voll to be higher in electrical flow correspond to the Acupuncture Points and Meridians.”

The Table of Contents of the book ‘Measure Points of the Electroacupuncture According to Voll on the Hands and Feet’ by Dr. Reinhold Voll, M.D. translated by Helga Sarkisyanz, M.D.

Dr. Voll would ultimately go on to not only invent his own style of electroacupuncture, known as EAV, but also discover 8 new meridians that function in addition to the 12 original meridians from Traditional Chinese Medicine.

All 20 of these meridians are found within the Healy microcurrent programs and can be scanned with a Resonance Analysis to view their relevance (in the context of your bioenergetic needs) at any given moment.

Now that you have a better understanding of what the meridians are, in our next post, Digital Acupuncture & the 20 Meridians – Part 2, we’ll discuss the individual meridians in greater detail and answer questions like what can we learn from the meridians? What are the meridians responsible for? And much, much more.

Stay Tuned!
